Warrior Girl Unearthed simultaneously melds larger social issues of artifact repatriation and murder/missing indigenous women with lives of twins Perry and Pauline Firekeeper-Birch in the same spirit that made "Firekeeper's Daughter" the literary wonder that it is. You know it's a good book when it stays on your mind days or weeks after you read the last page. Warrior Girl Unearthed is still on my mind to this day. From the perspective of Perry Firekeeper-Birch, we travel together down a winding mysterious path full of heartbreak, betrayal, injustice, and self-discovery. Growing up in America, I've always known about Native Americans, but this book helped me to understand the culture much more on an emotional level. This book faces head on the problems that many people are afraid to talk about or are desensitized to. We need more books like this!

I can't even begin to write down all the reasons I enjoyed this book. From Perry's powerful perspective in the face of injustices, to the thrilling plot around every turned page, I was hooked. And not only that, but I learned so much about ancestral repartition, the challenges of missing indigenous women, and the beautiful language woven throughout. About the Author
Angeline Boulley, an enrolled member of the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians, is a storyteller who writes about her Ojibwe community in Michigan's Upper Peninsula. She is a former Director of the Office of Indian Education at the U.S. Department of Education. Angeline lives in southwest Michigan, but her home will always be on Sugar Island. Firekeeper's Daughter is her debut novel.
