Safety and Consent (adapted from Thirsty Sword Lesbians)
Our collective goals for Rediscovered Books and the Drag Poet Society are to ensure that everyone is safe, everyone has fun, and you enjoy an evening of poetry and entertainment in that order of importance. Different people have different accessibility needs when it comes to sharing emotional stories, poetry and experiences together. This is a poetry gathering and our participants may be sharing some very personal experiences—taking care of one another is the most important thing. Our performers might say or do things we wouldn’t say or do to each other, but we don’t want to hinder their story. So, let’s agree to be caring and respectful of each other. We hope to foster an environment of sharing, mutual respect, and the power of the spoken word.
