Elizabeth Sharp McKetta - Fear of the Beast
Join us for an author discussion and poetry reading with Elisabeth McKetta and Troy Passey, Fear of the Beast.
The second book-length collaboration between author Elisabeth Sharp McKetta and artist Troy Passey, Fear of the Beast combines Elisabeth Sharp McKetta’s folkloric poetry with Troy Passey’s atmospheric artwork. Both primal and mythic, the book is about human relationships with animals—whether we are eating animals, keeping animals as pets, or telling stories about animals that we are too afraid to tell of ourselves. Set in a spare, wooded, and wintry landscape, Fear of the Beast is concerned with the untamable and unknowable aspects of our world and of ourselves. We will donate 10% of book proceeds to the Idaho Humane Society of Idaho.
Elisabeth Sharp McKetta is the author of eight books, including a writing guide and the children’s book We Live in Boise. For seven years she has maintained the blog Poetry for Strangers, and she is a TEDxBoise speaker with a talk titled “Live Like a Poem.” Elisabeth teaches writing for Harvard Extension School. elisabethsharpmcketta.com
Troy Passey grew up on a farm in Paris, Idaho. The agrarian landscapes of his childhood still pervade his art. He has exhibited art widely, had work included in four Idaho Triennials, and most recently created two sculptures, Kith & Kin, for the James Castle House. troypasseyart.com
Elizabeth and Troy will be signing books afterwards.
