Monica Gokey and Melanie Parish:
Writing at the Kitchen Table
Idaho Writers Talk Writing, Podcasting, and Craft
Tuesday, January 22, 7 p.m. at Rediscovered Books
Idaho writers Monica Gokey and Melanie Parish will join forces for a fun evening of stories, advice, and inspiration. Gokey will focus on the business of writing- pitching to media outlets, growing your audience, and tapping into the supportive community of online mom writers. Parsh will discuss the herculean effort involved inputting thousands of words on the page day after day, and the importance of persistence in book-length writing.
Monica Gokey is a radio producer and writer in Cascade, Idaho. Her radio work has aired on public radio stations across the West and Alaska. As a writer she's been published as a parenting voice, and in the outdoor/adventure writing space. Her work has appeared in news media, magazines, and two book-length anthologies - including You Do You, the latest book in the I Just Want to Pee Alone series edited by New York Times bestselling author Jen Mann. You Do You is a collection of female voice celebrating the women in our lives by telling honest stories about the challenges of parenthood, relationships, and the cult of female perfection.
Melanie Parish is a writer living in Boise, Idaho, and working on her first novel. She's the co-host of MomWrites, the podcast where she and Abby Mathews talk writing, parenting, and everything in between, while their book coaches Jennie Nash and Kemlo Aki guide them through writing and revising their books. When not writing she works part-time at a local nonprofit and full-time as a wife and mom of two kids.
