Take Action! NOW!

We at Rediscovered Books feel very strongly about a lot of things. It is our place to provide not just a place where "books and people meet", but to also provide a venue for the healthy and active exchange of ideas of all kinds for all kinds of people.  Books provide us with opportunities to engage with ideas both foreign and familiar to us.  They provide us with perspectives different than ours and world views that open our minds and hearts.

We also feel that books provide us with a direction and foundation from which to build the world that we want to live in.  And living in that world means that we should also be active in its protection and governance.  Both of our Rediscovered Books locations currently have an "Action Station" whereby each person can choose to do a little bit to make the world that we want to live in.  This month our "Action Stations" encourage postcard writing to local school boards regarding book banning and its impact on our students and on our community.  You can swing by, write a postcard, drop it in the box, and we will mail it.  Ta da! Action taken! And while you are here you can also look for your next best read or that book that you really want to share with someone--we have lots of recommendations.

Through our webpage, we provide opportunities to gain knowledge, understand what is happening and take action on your own part.  In the coming weeks, numerous School Board seats will be contested on September 6, 2022.  So make sure that you are registered to vote and get out to let your voice be heard.  Our webpage has links to each of the candidates for the Boise School Board Election and their information to help you make your choices. As we have seen in the recent past, School Board choices matter and it is vital to make sure that we support the candidates who will make the decisions regarding our students.

Speaking of registering to vote, if you have not already done so, make time to do it TODAY! There are numerous ways to register, but don't wait.
