When Booksellers go to Conferences....
Bookseller Hanna arm wrestles Dan from Norton Publishing for a copy of Emily Wilson's new translation of The Iliad
This time of year is always a fun one for us! It is regional conference time, and last week some of our staff got to go to the Pacific Northwest Booksellers Association (PNBA) meeting in Portland, Oregon! It is so exciting to gather with other Booksellers and authors and to do nothing but visit bookstores and talk about books.
This year bookstore co-owners, Bruce and Laura DeLaney went with Booksellers Hanna and Kalli. When Hanna was not arm wrestling for new releases, she and Kalli worked the floor and met a ton of both new and established authors.
Here are their highlights (and potential new best reads for you):
- Seanan McGuire - Mislaid in Parts Unkown (6/4/24)
- Garth Stein - The Cloven (Book #2)
- Katee Robert - Midnight Ruin (Dark Olympus #6) (1/16/2024)
- Yangsze Choo - The Fox Wife (2/13/2024)
- Laini Taylor with her husband, Jim di Bartolo - Billy Blaster and the Robot Army from Outer Space
- Laurie Frankel - Family Family (1/23/2024)
And this year's BUZZ BOOK - Soul Jar: Thirty-One Fantastical Tales by Disabled Authors by Annie Carl (10/17/2023)
Next week, Rebecca C, Rebecca G, and Bookseller Britney are off to MPIBA (Mountains and Plains Independent Booksellers Association) in Denver, Colorado! Cannot wait to see what happens there, but I expect that there will be no arm wrestling.
